Open Studio: Ceramics Handbuilding and Throwing: AM Session III

Calendar Mar 6, 2025 at 10 am, runs for 4 weeks

Open studio is offered for those who are interested in using our space and materials to make clay work independently from a class and is available for use only by those who have taken at least one ceramics class at our studio or for those with prior experience that has been approved by the studio manager. Open studio members can choose to handbuild, throw on the wheel, or both! Registration will include 25 pounds of clay, use of wheels and tools, a storage shelf, and the glazing and firing of work made in that month. All clay must be purchased through Gorham Arts Alliance and all firings will be done by the studio manager. You are welcome to purchase your own cone 5/6 glazes to use in firings if you want something other than what is provided. All classes are held at the Art and Nature Center at Tannery Brook. 

AM Session III: 4 classes, Thursdays, 3/6-3/27, 10:00am-1:00pm, $140

Additional, optional work time will be offered for open studio members and current students on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays 10am-1pm and Fridays from 5pm-8pm. Members are welcome to attend as many or as few times during the week as they choose, but Thursdays will be the only day where there is guaranteed space. The extra, optional work time is first come, first serve for available wheel use and table space. The studio will be closed on federal holidays.

Barre Bootcamp Session II

Barre Bootcamp is a low-impact workout that will produce a big burn! It combines elements of strength training, Pilates/Yoga, and dance. Small movements and many reps will help sculpt and tone muscles you didn't even know you had! This class is offered virtually through Zoom. Equipment that will be used in the class includes a chair or countertop or something to hold onto light hand weights (think 3lbs - 5lbs), a versa loop, gliding disks for hardwood floors or socks or face cloth for carpet floors, or use paper plate, and bender ball (or equivalent). Jenna is a certified Group Fitness instructor with a degree in Exercise Science.  Jenna has taught group fitness classes for over a decade and enjoys helping people move their bodies to feel empowered and strong!

Session II: 6 classes, Mondays, 3/10-4/14, 6:15am-7:15am, virtual, $44

 

Printmaking Exploration- Linoleum, Monotype, Gelliplate, and Silk Screen Session II

Explore different mediums of printmaking including linoleum cut, monotype, gelliplate, and silk screen printing on both fabric and paper. Experiment with different inks and vibrant multi-color application methods to create single or multilayered prints. Embellish clothes and textiles or create personalized gifts. We will also observe the works of different print artists and study their styles and methods. Instructor: Sophie Roblin. Materials are included. All classes are held at the Art and Nature Center at Tannery Brook.

Open Studio-Painting Session II

This open studio class is a time for painters to gather and choose from the option of participating in a project/lesson focusing on a particular painting skill or work on your own project in a fun studio environment while having access to an experienced instructor for assistance. The class will explore mixed media, painting, collage, lighting, color theory, and design. Instructor: Sophie Roblin. Materials are included. All classes are held at the Art and Nature Center at Tannery Brook.

Small Fruit 101

Join Master Gardener Joel Leak and explore the many different small fruits you can grow in any sized yard.  Fruits are delicious and nutritious, and many are easy to grow.  Joel will cover over 20 different kinds of fruit - both native and cultivated.  Many of these are familiar to you, and some you may not have thought of growing before. Joel Leak has been a Master Gardener since 2001 and has been gardening for over 50 years. He teaches Adult Education classes in vegetable gardening, fruit trees, culinary herbs, and growing berries.  He lives in Falmouth, where he maintains a large vegetable garden, berries bushes, fruit trees, and an incredible edible hedge.

Pumped Up Strength Session II

Pumped Up Strength is a new approach to resistance training. Utilizing combination movement patterns in a targeted, rhythmic progression, its superpower is the dynamic integration of upper and lower body movements set to fun music. The result? A sweat-drenched, functionally efficient workout that will challenge your body in new ways, improve lean muscle mass, and rev your metabolism. In this class, you will want a set of hand weights anywhere from 5 lbs to - 15 lbs. Jenna is a certified Group Fitness instructor with a degree in Exercise Science.  Jenna has taught group fitness classes for over a decade and enjoys helping people move their bodies to feel empowered and strong!

3D Needle Felting

In this class, students will learn the process of needle felting to create a 3-dimensional piece. Please come with your own ideas or the instructor will provide options for you to choose from.
