Book Arts - Session I

Explore the world of handmade books and journals. Using a variety of cut paper along with folding and binding techniques, artists will create a small series of pages beautifully bound together. We will also design a variety of our own papers as part of the process. Register early; this class will take only 10 students. Instructor: Mia Bogyo *same class offered on two different dates. Needle Felting

Learn the art of wet and needle felting. This is an old-time craft that involves fusing the wool fibers together with hot water and soap (wet felting) and interlocking fibers with a special barbed needle. It is easy to learn but hard to put down! We will make either vessels or small landscapes. No experience needed. Register early; this class will take only 10 students. Stained Glass Design - Session I

Represent your own designs in the medium of glass! Learn to develop your ideas into quick sketches and then into a full-scale design. From there, you will play with shapes, colors and textures to bring your design to life. Participants will learn how to pick out and cut glass accurately, use a grinder, foil and solder resulting in an original piece. Register early; this class will take only 8 students. Instructor: Deb Harmon *same class offered on two different dates Session I: 2 classes – Tuesdays, 10/23 & 10/30, 6:00pm-8:30pm, Community Arts Center (34 School St., Gorham), $59 (materials included).

Maddie Lou Chaplin is a full-time professional artist who works with watercolors, acrylics, and oils. Her art has received widespread recognition and numerous awards. Wheel Throwing

Students may take this course to learn the basics of wheel throwing or to continue to develop one’s skills. Basics of centering, pulling, forming and trimming will be learned. Pieces will be glazed and fired. All levels welcome. Register early; this class will take only 6 students.
