Water Based Media

Calendar Sep 29, 2021 at 1 pm, runs for 5 weeks

Come explore the basics of watercolors and other water based media (gouache, india ink watercolor pencils). We will explore different techniques and materials for creating unique works of art. All levels are welcome. This class will be more focused on guided painting sessions, learning techniques such as image transferring, but more advanced students are welcome to use this as an open studio time to explore unique techniques and styles. Materials will be provided.

Needle Felt Fairy Houses

Beginners and advanced needle felters welcome! Attendees will receive standard felting materials (2 needles, foam square, various colors of felt) as well as basic needle felt instructions to build 3D creations. The instructor will support students as they design their own unique fairy house inspired by different images and samples of fairy houses. Materials will be provided.

Wild Botanical Jewelry and Candles

Learn to identify wildflowers, ferns, trees in short hikes through the woods of Tannery Brook Park and selectively harvest specimens to create jewelry and candles from different materials, including resin, polymer clay and wax. Materials will be provided.

UP-cycled Braided Rugs

Interested in recycling some t-shirts and learning the basics of an age-old art simultaneously? Join us for upcycled braided rugs! We will spend our first class learning how to prepare our materials and going over the basics of braiding for rugs, then reconvene two weeks later to start the process of sewing/lacing the braid together. Braiding homework in between classes will be necessary in order to start lacing! Each participant will need to bring 6-8 adult size t-shirts to complete a small area rug. Lacing materials provided.

Stained Glass Design Session II

Represent your own designs in the medium of glass! Learn to develop your ideas into quick sketches and then into a full-scale design. We will play with shapes, colors, and textures to bring your design to life. Participants will learn how to pick out and cut glass accurately, use a grinder, foil, and solder resulting in an original piece. This class is open to beginners and those who want to build on their skills. It can also be used as an open studio to bring your own glass and use our tools to complete your work. Materials will be provided.

Fused Glass Fun

Calendar Nov 3, 2021 at 5:30 pm, runs for 1 week

During this 2 hour class you will create a fused glass project that will be fired and shaped into a beautiful piece of art that you can use. We will share some basic information about cutting and fusing glass so that you can understand the best way to design and fuse your glass. The project will be completed onsite and fired in a kiln offsite and available 1 week later. You will have your choice in making a 6 x6 square plate or plaque (you may create either a curved plate or a decorative plaque) or a 10 x 5 rectangle dish, plaque or display piece (you may create either a dish, decorative plaque or standing curved display piece).

Instructor, Amy Cain, has been a corporate trainer and manager for over 20 years. Amy has combined her love of teaching and art glass to teach beginning fused glass. She took classes from a fused glass artist in North Carolina and has been working in fused glass for about 5 years.

Printmaking/Card Making

This class will explore introductory level printmaking using blacks and stamps. This class will blend stamping, drawing, and printmaking, to create stunning and beautiful cards that can be used as holiday, greeting, birthday, and thank you cards. Materials will be provided.
