Crochet Pillow Series - Session III (Virtual Class)

Are you looking for a new way to spice up your seasonal decor, or looking to create gifts for your loved ones, or just want to try a new project? Then the Crochet Pillow Series might be just the thing! Come join me for one or more session as we create seasonal and festive crocheted pillows with completely original patterns by yours truly.  Worried you might not be a strong enough crocheter to master these patterns? Don’t you worry! With each session comes the pattern as well as three one hour virtual meetings for participants to ask questions or simply visit. Materials Needed: Size 5mm Crochet hook (size H), the yarn that the pattern will list. *It is recommended that participants have a basic understanding of crochet. If you’re unsure if you qualify please email the instructor! Instructor: Shila Cook

Explore the Japanese form of fabric dyeing. We will discuss traditional indigo dyeing, but for the ease of this class, we will be using other dyes. Students will walk through some basic folding and sticking methods to ensure lovely results! If you like, bring a cotton item or piece of fabric that you would like to experiment with. In this class we will expand on previous knowledge of clay in an attempt to create more advanced forms, including handles, lids, etc. Pieces will be glazed and fired. All levels welcome. PLEASE NOTE: The class will now be virtual. Kits will be available to be picked up at Tom and Lorraine Lindstedt's place. Once registered, location, pick up times, and link to class will be emailed.

You’ll have some fun as you create a gift, continue a Maine tradition and keep Maine green this Christmas. Make a beautiful, fresh 24” balsam fir Christmas wreath. Beginners become instant wreath makers with easy clamp rings. Your wreath will remain fresh throughout the holidays and beyond. After the holidays, recycle the ring and use the balsam in a fragrant sachet. Please bring gloves and small hand pruners to class. Materials fee: $12, payable to instructor. Materials for additional wreaths will be available for purchase. Tom and Lorraine Lindstedt are experienced wreath makers, crafters and educators and operate Woodlot Management & Products; a local family owned and operated tree farm.

DIY: Holiday Gifts (Virtual Class)

In this virtual live "Do It Yourself" essential oil workshop, you will have the opportunity to create homemade items to give as holiday gifts or to keep for yourself (or both!). We will be making three items: a hand and body sugar scrub, a natural room/linen spray, and a foaming hand soap. Prior to the workshop, you will receive information about the items that we will make together live online, and which essential oil scents will be available for you to choose. You may provide your own, or have all or some of the materials put together for you for a fee that is at-cost to the instructor. Elissa Nauman is a Health Educator, Certified Essential Oil Coach, and an Independent Consultant for two natural health product companies. She is a health enthusiast particularly in regards to alternative health, and a Mom who is constantly seeking healthier alternatives for her family. This will be her third year teaching through Gorham Adult Education.

Create a gift, bring the fragrance of Christmas into your home and keep Maine green this Christmas. Using materials provided, you will make a beautiful, 16” full arrangement of Maine balsam decorated with red ribbons. Your kissing ball is designed to be hung in an archway or outdoors. It will remain fresh throughout the holidays and beyond. After the holidays, recycle the balsam in a fragrant sachet. You can do this! No experience required! Please bring gloves and small hand pruners to class. MATERIALS FEE: $12 PAYABLE TO INSTRUCTOR. Materials for additional kissing balls will be available for purchase. Introduction to Crochet

Join us for an introductory class for crochet! That’s the one with the hook, not two needles! We will learn basic stitches and patterns, hook sizes, traditional yarns, and alternative options like rope, cording or t-shirt yarn and “plarn” made from repurposed plastic bags. Crochet can be a quick and easy way to create lots of fun and interesting things. The ease of the basic stitches makes it a great hobby. Let’s make a goal to work on a hat and see where we go from there! Register early; this class will only take 6 students. Instructor: Christina Thibault
