Beginner Watercolor Workshop

This workshop is for all those who have wanted to explore watercolor painting. You will discuss materials as well as techniques, color mixing, composition and different paper and paints. All materials will be supplied to complete a painting from start to finish with step-by-step instructions. Just bring a snack and a drink and go home with a finished watercolor of fall leaves. This is a fun class in a relaxed atmosphere where students will learn the techniques used in the weekly class and it will enable you to feel more comfortable if you choose to continue with watercolor. Students are welcome to bring their own brushes, but not required. Materials fee: $20, payable to the instructor. Maddie Lou Chaplin is a full-time professional artist who works with watercolors, acrylics, and oils. Her art has received widespread recognition and numerous awards. Felting for Beginner

Learn the art of wet and needle felting. This is an old-time craft that involves fusing the wool fibers together with hot water and soap (wet felting) and interlocking fibers with a special barbed needle (needle felting). Intro. to Rug Braiding

The three-strand braided wool rug is reminiscent of an era when rag rugs were considered an affordable way to reuse worn clothing and blankets to create a rug for the home. On the first day, participants will learn how to choose the right wool and begin the braiding process. The 2nd class will focus on shaping the braid and lacing. The materials included will allow each participant to make a small trivet or chair seat. Register early; this class will take only 8 students.
