Nature Walk – Horton Woods

Did you know that for many cultures the spirit of the forest is usually found dwelling in the very oldest, most gnarled white pine tree, known as the Grandmother tree? Come meet the Grandmother of Horton Woods and learn about the secrets of the other trees that inhabit this beautiful 100 acre preserve. This parcel is comprised of a diverse variety of ecological habitats including mature upland forest, fields, marsh, stream vernal pools and wetland and is part of Saco Bay Trails. The hike is approximately 3.5 miles and we will meet at the trailhead located at 464 Buxton Road in Saco.

Amy Witt is a Naturalist, Horticulturist, Educator, and Director of Earth Walkers (www.earthwalkers.me). She offers a variety of nature-based programs, garden consultations, and leads people on journeys to invigorate their heart and fully experience Nature in more spiritual ways.

Beginner’s Introduction to Qigong and Tai Chi (Virtual)

Qigong and Tai Chi are Chinese exercises that have been used by humans for centuries to build strength, stability and balance as well as other general health benefits. The course is designed to introduce or re-introduce the participant to this ancient exercise form. Studies have demonstrated that qigong and tai chi practices can improve sleep, balance, strength and mental focus while reducing stress. Some of the goals of the program are to develop mental vitality and increased tranquility, nurture and strengthen the body and develop spiritual vitality and happiness. Frederick Mesloh has been practicing Tai Chi for years and in 2020 graduated from Dr. Yang’s Evidence-Based Qigong and Tai Chi program as a certified instructor.

Join Certified Group Fitness Instructor, Theresa Labrecque, for a class that will blend the core conditioning and full body strengthening of Pilates with the flexibility and lengthening of yoga for a balanced workout for all levels. Theresa has been a certified group fitness instructor for over 20 years, teaching Pilates for more than 13 years and Yoga for seven. She is committed to providing functional strengthening to all ages and ability levels.
