Moonlight Paddle Outing - Session III

This two-hour outing shares the highlights of Maine's premier lake on a summer's evening! The outing begins with a relaxing paddle to explore the natural shoreline, and watch the sun set over the trees. We join together to watch the moon rise. With flashlights and glow sticks at the ready, we celebrate yet another warm summer evening on the water. This outing requires no previous experience and will be an easy relaxed paddle. Class limit: 12 Co-owners of Sebago Trails Paddling Company (Windham), Bill Allen and daughter Katelyn, have over 30 years of paddling experience and instruction between them. Session III: Wednesday, 6/27, 6:30-8:45pm, $27 *Same class offered on three different dates. All classes will be held at Sebago Trails Paddling Co., 1311 Roosevelt Trail, Raymond

 

Pastel Workshop

This is an introductory class to learn the basics of pastel painting .You will learn enough to complete a small pastel painting during the workshop. You will be introduced to the materials and explain how to apply them. This is a beginner class to explore the possibility of the medium. Students are welcome to bring a snack/lunch/drink to class. You will be provided with a supply list upon registration. Materials fee: $20, payable to the instructor (specialty papers and other materials not listed on your supply list). Maddie has worked with pastels for many years and has studied under several nationally known pastel painters. She is a member of the Pastel Painters of Maine. Join Certified Group Fitness Instructor, Theresa Labrecque, for a class that will blend the core conditioning and full body strengthening of Pilates with the flexibility and lengthening of yoga for a balanced workout for all levels. Theresa has been a certified group fitness instructor for over 20 years, teaching Pilates for more than 12 years and Yoga for seven. She is committed to providing functional strengthening to all ages and ability levels. Session I: 16 classes, Mondays & Wednesdays, 1/22-3/21 (no class 2/19 & 2/22), 7:00-8:00pm, GMS, $99 DROP-IN RATE: $10/PER CLASS

Plein Air Painting

Meaning “in the open air…” We will be painting outdoors! You will learn to capture the spirit and essence of a landscape or subject, working in watercolor or acrylic, and incorporating natural light, color and movement. We will meet at the Community Arts Center (34 School St., Gorham) and travel to two outdoor locations to set-up and paint. Easel, stool and materials provided. Public Speaking

It is estimated that 5.3 million Americans have a fear of Public Speaking…often ranked higher than a fear of flying, heights or spiders. Are you preparing for a presentation at work or school? Do you need to give a speech at an upcoming event, or perhaps a toast at your cousin's wedding? Maybe you just have a great fear of speaking in public, or you would like to improve the skills you already have. This course will introduce you to the basics of public speaking while also helping you to overcome anxiety, increase your confidence and help prepare you for your next public speaking engagement. Lisa Bird is the Director of Public and Media Relations for Special Olympics Maine and has worked for over 25 years with the organization. She is also a former high school English and theatre teacher. 3 classes – Mondays, 3/5-3/19, 7:00-9:00pm, GMS, $49

Stained Glass Design - Session I

Represent your own designs in the medium of glass! Learn to develop your ideas into quick sketches and then into a full-scale design. From there, you will play with shapes, colors and textures to bring your design to life. Participants will learn how to pick out and cut glass accurately, use a grinder, foil and solder resulting in an original piece. Register early; this class will take only 8 students.
