Virtual Class - Animals in Winter: A Book Group of Discovery
with Martin Gagnon
While the winter season is characterized as a time of stillness, there is still much activity in the natural world. Join Mellow Mainer Meditation in learning more about Maine’s winters, by reading Winter World: The Ingenuity of Animal Survival. Examining everything from food sources in the extremely barren winter land-scape to the chemical composition that allows certain creatures to survive, Heinrich's Winter World awakens the largely undiscovered mysteries by which nature sustains herself through winter's harsh, cruel exigencies. This fascinating look at the natural world and its adaptations is written by biologist Bernd Heinrich who divides his time between Vermont and the forests of Western Maine. Martin Gagnon, a certified Meditation and Mindfulness instructor and founder of Mellow Mainer Meditation, recognizes the tremendous stress relief of regular meditation and outdoor activity. He believes that Nature is our greatest teacher. Emphasizing a more holistic approach to wellness, he completed a certificate of studies in Integrative Health through the University of Minnesota. This included studies in Aromatherapy, Guided Imagery, Herbal Medicine and additional training in Mindfulness. He is currently studying to become a certified Shaman.
