3D Printing

What is 3D printing? How does it work? If you can draw it, we can likely print it! This NEW 1-night class will guide you through the process of designing a 3D model and printing it on a 3D printer. We will discuss 3D printing options for your home and see what the printers have been doing in the school classrooms. Students are asked to bring their laptop or tablet. Mrs. Dawson will also have some available for students to use.

Clay/Wheel Throwing II

This class is geared to all levels. Students may take this course to learn the basics of wheel throwing or to continue to develop one’s skills. Core strength and back pain go hand in hand. So how do you know if you are doing the right exercises to strengthen your core? Join us for this educational and interactive workshop as Back in Motion Physical Therapy’s Mary Kroth-Brunet teaches you the best core strengthening moves. Beginners to advanced exercisers welcome. You will have the opportunity to ask questions at the end of class. Students are asked to bring a mat to class. Mary Kroth-Brunet, MS, PT, has been a physical therapist treating LBP for over 30 years. Her expertise in helping others comes from her ability to simplify information into applicable tools for everyone. She has taught courses in LBP for over 20 years all over the world. Designing an Appealing Front Yard

This introductory course provides students with the necessary knowledge and skills to design their own residential landscape for their front yard. The basics of the landscape design process, woody and perennial plants, hardscape materials and landscape orthographic drawings will be addressed. The course will culminate with students designing a landscape plan for their front yard. Instructor Celeste Dolbec has a Masters in Landscape Architecture and extensive experience as a landscape designer working with many nurseries throughout Southern Maine. 6 classes – Tuesdays, 5/1-6/5, 6:00-8:00pm, GMS, $89


Figure Drawing - Session II

This class introduces students to various approaches to drawing the human figure. Emphasis is placed upon direct observation using a live model with the focus being to create representational drawings while achieving correct form and proportions. Students will explore a variety of approaches to drawing, which will include line, gestures, short pose studies and long pose drawings. Register early; this class will take only 6 students. Grow Your Own Organic Garden

Interested in learning how to grow your own vegetables in a sustainable manner? Join us for an evening-long workshop on how to grow your own garden organically. We’ll talk about the basics of soil science and how to enrich your soil to produce healthy, high-yielding plants. The course will also cover the fundamentals of making and using compost, the principles of crop rotation and how to incorporate green manures to manage nutrients in the garden. Other topics will include how to tell the difference between cultivated plants and weeds, basic weed control strategies and cultural methods for dealing with pests. We will even send you home with free seeds! All are welcome, from first-timers to experienced gardeners who want to experiment with new techniques.
