Balsam Fir Kissing Ball Workshop

Join us for a fun filled class! Create a gift, bring the fragrance of Christmas into your home and keep Maine green this Christmas. Using materials provided, you will make a beautiful, 16” full arrangement of Maine balsam decorated with red ribbons. Your kissing ball is designed to be hung in an archway or outdoors. It will remain fresh throughout the holidays and beyond. After the holidays, recycle the balsam in a fragrant sachet. Please bring gloves and small hand pruners to class. Materials fee: $12 payable to the instructor. Materials for additional kissing balls will be available for purchase. Tom and Lorraine Lindstedt are experienced wreath makers, crafters and educators and operate Woodlot Management & Products; a local family owned and operated tree farm. This 15 week course introduces students to the college environment and provides opportunities to strengthen the skills necessary for success at the college level. Students will explore the learning process, learning styles and student development theory. The final segment of the course will help students understand and successfully manage life and career transitions. Successfully complete this course and receive 3 elective credits from SMCC.

We’ll be making loaded breakfast burritos, strawberry shortcake overnight oats, freezer friendly sausage and potato frittata breakfast sandwiches, omelets to go and Mason jar blender fruit smoothies. JoAnne Wood was born in England and comes from a long line of fine British bakers. After graduating from the California Culinary Academy, she worked as a pastry chef at fine dining establishments in the San Francisco Bay area. Since moving to Maine, she has worked as a professional pastry chef and owned Dessert, a baking company in Gorham. Hospital Billing & Coding with COC Certification

Calendar runs for 10 weeks

A comprehensive program for Hospital Coding providing national certification as a COC that covers everything hospital billers need to know, from patient admission to accounts receivable management and HIPAA. It builds on your knowledge so that you can make a successful transition from the physician/outpatient environment to the hospital setting. This course covers the hospital regulatory setting, the structure and functions of hospital departments, patient accounts and data flow, the billing process, coding, claim forms, reimbursement, accounts receivable management, HIPAA requirements, and with updated electronic claim forms. You will have Hospital cases which allow you to apply concepts to real-life scenarios. You must be a CPC or take our medical billing and coding program first to enter into this program. Medical Coding with CPC Certification

20 week, in-depth, State-Certified Certificate program in medical coding. This program is designed to teach all aspects of medical coding and provide you the skills you need to become nationally certified and get into the job market as a Certified Coder. This certificate program is taught by a Certified Medical Coder and includes Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology, CPC exam, AAPC membership, 3 practice CPC tests and all books. Basic computer skills are required. Payment plans available.

Number of weeks: 20 weeks 2 nights per week/1 coding class 1 term & A&P class if completing in 20 weeks
